Motion by Emmett Godin Sr. and seconded by
James Blackmore.
Reading
of Minutes of Nov. 23, 2003.
Minutes
were read by the Chair from the notes made by Emmett Godin.
Motion
of acceptance was deferred to the next meeting as the Chair requested more time
to type and distribute copies of the Minutes.
The
Chief explained the main points of the different Eligibility – Beneficiary
Criteria versions of the ANTC, Pikwakanagan
and Canada.
New Logo Contest Results
Winning
entry by Chris Waito was announced, submitted as #18 in the ballot.
Runner
up may also be used.
Motion
to accept #18 as the winning entry
Motion by – Emmett Godin Sr.
Seconded by – Robert Jones
Motion Carried – All in Favour.
The
Community Card was then discussed, the Chief explained the difficulties involved
in members using the Card for PST exemption. The Cards could be ready in 3 weeks
with the objective being as a fundraiser. There were comments from the floor
regarding concerns of possible fraudulent uses of the card. The Chief said he
would look deeper into the legal implications of our card being used for Tax
exemption and report to the next Elders meeting before proceeding.
The
Chief explained the position of Robert Guyea, that he is Non-political and
offers services to all aboriginals. Not just BAFN members.
This
information will be posted in our next Newsletter, along with contact
information.
The
Chief was asked to invite Robert to our next Meeting.
Next
Elders Meeting – Feb. 18 7:00 PM in Golden Lake.
A
request was made by the Chief, for a person to keep track of community monies
collected by the Chief.
Ray
Proulx volunteered to help with the accounting.
One park tag was not filled
One
WMU tag was not filled.
Discussions
on unused tags and suggestion that unused Tags revert back to the community at
some point prior to the closing of the Harvest.
Letters
of warning to be sent to those Algonquins that shot animals without a proper
Tag.
50/50
Draw
There was $84.00 taken in by the draw.
John
Godin won the 50/50 draw of $42.00 and donated back the total amount.
$20.00
was donated to the Ladies Auxiliary.
Next
meeting to be held at the Petawawa Legion Hall Mar 21/04 at 2:00 p.m.
